Farewell Mr. Ramirez

I knew this day would come. I actually thought it would happen in 2006. It finally happened, Aramis Ramirez is no longer a Chicago Cub.  He has signed a 3-year deal with the MilwaukeeBrewers for a reported $35 mil. He was by far the best third baseman the Cubs have had since Ron Santo last played in 1973.  Ramirez arrived as a mid season acquisition from the Pittsburg Pirates for the 2003 playoff push with Kenny Lofton for Bobby Hill and Jose Hernandez. He solidified the middle of the lineup ever since.  He was only an All Star twice in his tenure as a Cubs but that should not of been the case. In 2004 he batted .318, with 36 Home Runs and 103 RBI’s and was 10th in the MVP voting yet was snubbed from the All Star Game.  He was a great Cubs player and he will be missed.  So here is a look back at my top ten favorite A-Ram Moments since 2003.

The Theo era has begun!

The Theo era has officially begun. This morning the Cubs made the first official move under the new regime. David DeJesus was given a 2-year deal with an option for a third for a reported $4 Mil a year. While I do not totally mind this signing, it is a small glimpse into the future of the organization. 

Why I Hate The Taco Bell All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game

It is time to lose the Taco Bell All-Star Legends and Celebrity People Who Occasionally Appear On Television Softball Game.  After watching last night it just made me furious. While there were some “Legends” the celebrity portion leaves much to be desired. When James Denton is the biggest star then you have some problems. 1.

 1. Apparently James Denton is on Desperate Housewives. I have never seen it but he is always at this game and is a staple. 

All Star Break Rant

Well we are halfway through the baseball season and I think we are all underwhelmed. Other than the fact that my fantasy team is doing better than it has in years, (Thank you Jose Bautista) it has been very ho-hum. My team, the Chicago Cubs, is just a terrible terrible team, with terrible terrible players and terrible terrible management top to bottom. They almost make me wish I was a Dodger fan. 

Next Year Is Here!

The 2011 baseball season is upon us. The Cubs are 1-2 and Carlos Marmol blew a save after walking the leadoff guy. So things are normal. So what is the best way to recover from a heartbreaking Cubs loss? Well go to your first game of the season of course. Sunday Night Baseball, Giants versus Dodgers, what could be better?

2008 Or 2015? Is This The Year For The Cubs?

*Here is the first article I wrote for Bleacher Report. It was written in July of 2008, and apparently I thought the season was lost. The Cubs ended up winning the division and then promptly swept by the Diamondbacks.

Also on a side note, I do believe that the Cubs will win in 2015. *
